Constantin Schlachter was born in Altkirch in 1992, he graduated from Les Gobelins in 2014 and now lives and works in Paris.
His artistic practice centres on an exploration of both internal and external landscapes. Nature, the invisible and matter are dominant themes in his work. His experimental approach to the techniques he employs aims to put into perspective a less anthropocentric world and to re-enchant nature. This mysterious entity that captivates each of us in its own way, for it speaks to everyone yet can never be fully translated.
Through various media related to photography, he explores matter and its synesthetic power. By inverting the scales, colours and textures of the elements presented, he induces a confusion of the senses in the viewer to reveal deeper ones. His work invites us into a state of letting go, a contemplative state in which everyone can project their own emotions.
His cosmic and earthly images, in which matter plays a dominant role, blur the lines between the microcosm and the macrocosm. As his practice evolves, the artist increasingly seeks to erase his own presence in order to highlight that of his subject.
