Daniel Thorne is an Australian-born, Liverpool-based composer and saxophonist whose work explores the boundaries between acoustic and electronic music, composition and improvisation. Born in Perth, his practice creates a unique sonic world that obscures and detaches the saxophone from its typical associations. He serves as artistic director of the acclaimed new music group Immix Ensemble and has collaborated with artists including Vessel and Luke Abbott. His debut solo album "Lines of Sight" was released on Erased Tapes in 2019, inspired by aerial imagery and perspectives that blur the line between natural and man-made. prior to moving to the UK, he received commissions from the Australia Council and TURA New Music Festival, and was later awarded the prestigious Dankworth Prize for Jazz Composition.
