Voin de Voin is a Bulgarian performance artist based in Sofia, working with ritual, collective processes, and new languages for shared consciousness. His practice spans performance, installation, and video, exhibited at Documenta 14, Manifesta 11, and the Venice Biennale. In July 2014, Voin kept a diary governed by Cancer and Leo, a time for redirecting intensity, reconsidering healing, taking new power. The month opens: "Being reborn every day is a practice to remember... everything is possible... nothing is incurable... even a broken heart." What follows is a jungle of images: the world as imagination, jellyfish drifting toward a dry island heart, a ceramic fawn resting on a bed, green light tracing a transparent figure. By month's end, a chorus of crickets, black and white dissolving into crystal. This diary fragrance moves through that terrain—sunrise colors, daybreak stillness, the slowed-down hum of insects with a thread of opium smoke underneath, for the poetry effect and the pleasure principle.
"Through Voin de Voin work, I imagined a risky fragrance evoking a ‘Trash Dandy seen through a smoke screen’. I worked around a tobacco accord like a gentlemen’s club scent, spiced up by Eucalyptus Honey and volutes of Opium ‘for a poetry effect and pleasure principle’, as Voin de Voin proclaims."
